Painting Oak Kitchen Cabinets

Before:

The clients didn’t want to change out cabinets and countertops, but thought the granite was pretty dark with the dated oak kitchen cabinets, so we all decided painting was the best option. With going white, it really brightened up the kitchen and made the kitchen look much less “dated”.

After:

When painting cabinets, it’s important to make sure the original stain is properly sealed. In this case, we had to put another coat of clear urethane on top of the original finish inside all the cabinet doors, otherwise the stain would have bled through. Then we primed everything, caulked, and applied 2 top coats of a Swiss Coffee white that the client chose. We also use a special product for cabinets (not hardware store paint), which protects from chipping and peeling.
